Precision hits and kills with the bow will gradually charge up a Guidance Ring.
The VFX on the arrowtip and on the bow itself gets considerably brighter the more your Guidance Ring is charged
Drawing back the bow in hip fire will prepare the next arrow to launch a Guidance Ring
You can visually tell when a Guidance Ring is ready and about to be deployed by additional VFX along the arrow.
The additional VFX on the arrow is greatly diminished upon switching between ADS and hip fire, to indicate that the shot will not deploy a guidance ring, but one is availible.
Once your Guidance Ring is charged, hip firing an arrow will deploy one.
The Guidance Ring has a neat parallax effect, with a jet fighter like targeting beacon appearing at longer distances.
Friendly Guidance Ring
Enemy Guidance Ring
In PVP, Enemy Guidance Rings are pink, with a distorted, glitchy center pattern to show that they are unusable by friendlies, and pose a threat to you.
Firing through an enemy Guidance Ring does nothing...
...However firing through your own deploys additional seeker missiles that track towards targets

I had the pleasure of doing Hierarchy of Need's VFX! This solar exotic bow is acquirable via a random drop upon completion of the "Spire of The Watcher" Dungeon, debuting with Season of the Seraph.
Designed as a lane defense weapon, the first in Destiny 2's history, the bow needed exceptional VFX support in order to achieve it's design goals. I was responsible for the Guidance Ring, the additional seeker projectiles, and the base perk status VFX along the arrow and bow itself. I had a ton of fun working with Vivian Becks in order to realize her design goals visually, and Seth Perlstein work with me hand in hand in order to add some extra visual flair to his wonderful Hard-Surface work. Jacob Gonzalez provided concept art, and Paxson Helgesen did a wonderful job with the bow audio (and a few easter eggs) as always!
