I had the absolute pleasure of helping work on the "Mark of The Falling Star", one of the first 3 Enhanced Ornaments that released with Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted. Enhanced Ornaments are a series of Legendary items, one for each class, that when paired with their similarly themed Exotic counterparts, gain additional VFX or visuals. I was responsible for creating and implementing the Arc-themed VFX that is visible along the back of the Mark, as well as shooting out from various parts of the "Cuirass of The Falling Star" Exotic Chestpiece as well.
I wanted something visually striking at both a distance and up close, and to create something that would give players incentive to actually pair the Mark with the Chestpiece. I took inspiration from some of our other Arc-themed damage pools and adapted those visuals into the coursing Arc-Plasma look visible on the Mark. For the jets on the Chestpiece, I went with a Arc-themed jet turbine look, as this Exotic is used in conjunction with the "Thundercrash" Titan super.
I worked with Cherylynn Lima, the Character Artist responsible for the base item, in order to set up the VFX cards and prep them for shader work.
